The City of Bellingham Asphalt Patching Project (IDIQ) is a detailed project aimed at restoring and enhancing road surfaces throughout the urban area.

After an extensive bidding process, the IDIQ contract is typically awarded for a three-year contract term. WRS has been working with the City of Bellingham for at least three contract terms on the City Patching project.

WRS and the City of Bellingham work together to improve the City's road safety and lifespan, as well as to provide a smoother, more reliable driving experience for the city's residents and visitors. Annually, approximately 5,000 tons of materials are placed within the Bellingham City Road map. This number can fluctuate depending on the number of asphalt patch requests that are approved by the city team in a year.

The project includes grinding areas where damaged or deteriorated asphalt is mechanically removed to create a smooth, even surface. Asphalt overlay is also included in the project scope; where a new layer of high-quality asphalt is applied over the existing road to address surface imperfections and improve durability. Additionally, targeted asphalt patching is performed to fix specific areas of significant wear or damage, to ensure a seamless, stable surface.

Our asphalt team complements all of these efforts with utility adjustments. Utility adjustments align utility covers and infrastructure with the new road surface, to ensure flush integration that will prevent future complications.
