Large scale land-leveling and site-clearing operations using GPS-guided tractor-pulled scrapers.

Land-Leveling Scrapers

Summary

For large land leveling and site clearing operations, WRS frequently pairs our fleet of GPS-guided, tractor-pulled scrapers with automated heavy equipment to accurately and efficiently move large quantities of material.

When equipped to pull double scraper cans, these beasts can easily move upwards of 40 cubic yards per pass. A distinct advantage of utilizing six-wheeled tractors is their low ground pressure and minimal potential impact to existing utilities with little cover.

An often-overlooked benefit of utilizing GPS automation is the removal of a grade checker in mass grading operations, which increases safety while minimizing personnel exposure to noise, dust, and the danger of moving equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Can scraper tractors only be used on flat surfaces?

No! Our scraper tractors are also efficient on slopes, ponds, building pads, stormwater vaults, creek beds, etc. The tractors can create large stockpiles, which is helpful for both utilizing more of the site for other construction activities, as well as for keeping material on-site for future use or haul-off.

How much material can the scraper tractors haul?

With a double-scraper can setup, we can haul up to 40+ yards of material in one pass. Depending on the size of the site, one tractor with a double-scraper can setup can move up to 5,000 yards per day. This saves on time and resources – one tractor managing that amount of material would be equivalent to the same site needing one excavator, one dozer, two haul trucks, and one roller.

What makes WRS’s scrapers so efficient?

WRS can self-load, self-haul, self-place to grade or in lifts, and compact material all with one scraper tractor and operator. This gives the contractor the ability to continue getting the site ready, keeping haul trucks out of the way, and not having to wait on other equipment. This also increases safety on the jobsite. Additionally, scraper tractors can fit into small spaces, so you can continue other parts of the project. We can condense the haul-out area so everything else doesn’t get clogged up.

Are WRS’s scraper tractors GPS-equipped?

Yes! All of our tractors are GPS-equipped to take any model. Utilizing GPS ensures we don’t over- or under-excavate.
