FERNDALE, Wash. – WRS has named the 2025 winners of the company’s culture awards – known as the 3 Cs Awards – to be Joel Rinehart, Tino Chavez, and Brian (BJ) Kerntke, as announced at the WRS Christmas Party.

The 3 Cs – Character, Chemistry, and Competency – are WRS’s core values, and these awards help recognize team members who exemplify company culture.

Rinehart, the Office Manager, was named the Character Award recipient.

His coworkers said: "Joel exemplifies the heart of WRS through his genuine care for people and his willingness to go above and beyond to support others. He consistently demonstrates integrity, kindness, and compassion in his daily actions. Joel takes time to listen, offers guidance, and helps employees navigate challenges – both personal and professional.”

Chavez, a laborer and equipment operator on the civil construction, was named the Chemistry Award recipient.

His coworkers said: "Tino cares about his team members, really listens to what they have to say, and anyone you ask would say he is fantastic to work with. When there are new team members, he makes them feel welcome, and on top of being very knowledgeable, safe, and hardworking at his job, he makes it fun to work with him.”

Kerntke, a mechanic, was named the Competency Award recipient.

His coworkers said: "BJ shows competency in the work he does. He thinks outside of the box and will find ways to get the job done. When we have made changes in how to do things, he is always willing to try. He takes great pride in his work and is always in good spirits at the end of the day.”
